Rachel Goldstein, MA, LMFT-A (she/her)

Rachel Goldstein, LMFT-A

I'm Rachel Goldstein, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (License #205600) in the state of Texas, dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy services to individuals and couples who are struggling with their parenting journey, navigating grief and bereavement, or facing challenges in the workplace.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.

My Journey To Becoming A Therapist

Like many therapists, I didn't find the right therapist for a long time. I experienced therapy during college and throughout my early career, navigating issues like workplace bullying and relationship struggles. It wasn't until I worked with a remarkable therapist here in Texas that I finally felt understood, heard, and trusted.

Our connection was transformative, inspiring me to pursue the same path and training program to help others in a similar way.

My Specialized
Training & Expertise

My specialized training is in various evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as Collaborative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman Level I. I have also received additional training in perinatal mental health.

I work under the supervision of Michael Pontello, MA, LMFT-S, ensuring the highest quality of care for my clients.

A Bit About My Personal Background

Outside of my therapy practice, Iā€™m a newly married mom of a toddler, enjoying family time and discovering new experiences in and around Houston. Originally from the Northeast, my husband and I spent time hiking the Catskills, cherishing cooler summer mornings and seeking out abundant nature trails.

Before transitioning to the field of therapy, I accumulated 10 years of corporate experience, including roles in research with NYU College of Dentistry, e-commerce with UncommonGoods and The Gap, and finance at AlliantGroup in Houston. Holding a Bachelor's in Economics with a minor in Global Health, my diverse background informs my therapeutic approach, especially when working with clients facing work-related challenges.

I made the decision to transition from corporate America after experiencing a personal battle with workplace bullying and burnout. This led me to seek out support and solutions which opened my eyes to therapy and the impact challenges like this can have on marriages and families. As a result, my clinical focus includes attention on the effects that stress and burnout have on relationships.

Because I understand how it feels to live in survival mode, I know the consequences this can have on starting a family and maintaining a healthy relationship. I want to help people who are going through situations like this so they too can get to the other side and create healthy, thriving partnerships with the ones they love.

In my free time, my family and I explore new neighborhoods, enjoy the foodie culture in Houston, and spend lots of quality time at the local playgrounds.
